This Art Exhibition will show a selection of the finalist images of the two editions (2007 & 2009) of the Scanning Probe Microscope international contest, SPMAGE (http://www.icmm.csic.es/spmage) organised by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (Spanish National Research Council - CSIC). Those images are part of an itinerary exhibition with a great national and international impact and will be shown totally updated in ImagineNano’s event.
Thanks to the efforts of the organizers and the support of different Spanish Institutions this exhibition came out and have been shown in Spain and Mexico since 2008. The exhibition is comprised of a selection of 50 images from the finalist participants of the SPMAGE 2007 and 2009 editions. The exhibition of these microscopic images is a tribute to the invention of Scanning Probe Microscopes, which are the eyes of the nanoworld and have pushed the scientific development of disciplines such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or Engineering.
This exhibition approaches the Nanotechnology and Nanoscience to the society by explaining their most important applications and their impact in our daily lives. Furthermore, the exhibition of those images has an important value to the scientific dissemination as showing the main contributions to science. These images show that nanoworld spots weighed by the scientist’s eyes are very close to artistic representations of oneiric landscapes: the origin of nanoart.
One Picture is Worth Ten Thousand Words and when it comes to Science provides a better understanding and overview.
